With the NBA Finals and draft complete, the league’s top decision-makers now have their eyes set on the free agency and trade landscape.

The free agency window opened on June 30, and teams and players are making moves in what has already been an impactful summer of deals and contract extensions.

Stars such as Klay Thompson and Paul George are on the move to new teams (the Dallas Mavericks and Philadelphia 76ers, respectively) while James Harden agreed to a deal to return to the LA Clippers.

July 31

3:55 p.m. ET: Cleveland Cavaliers Jarrett Allen has agreed to a three-year, $91 million maximum extension, his agent Derrick Powell told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Allen averaged career-highs in points (16.5) and assists (2.7) last season and this deal will guarantee him $131 million over the next five years.

12:54 p.m. ET: Free agent guard Luke Kennard has agreed on a one-year, $11 million contract to stay with the Memphis Grizzlies, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday.

Kennard, a key floor spacer for a franchise expecting to contend in the Western Conference, averaged 11 points, 3.5 assists and 45% on 3-point shooting for the Grizzlies last season.


July 30

5:28 p.m. ET: The New York Knicks announced the re-signing of Precious Achiuwa, with his agent telling ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski it will be a one-year, $6 million deal.

The move keeps the 24-year-old big man at Madison Square Garden after arriving last season from the Toronto Raptors in the trade that also landed guard OG Anunoby.

5:25 p.m. ET: Devonte’ Graham has agreed on a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Graham played 46 games with the Spurs over the last two seasons. He had been traded to the Charlotte Hornets earlier in June in a salary-cap saving move, who then waived the 29-year-old point guard.


July 27

4:05 p.m. ET: Tyus Jones, the market’s top remaining guard, has agreed on a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Phoenix Suns, his agent, Kevin Bradbury of Lift Sports Management, told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Saturday.

Jones is a massive addition for the Suns, who struggled without a true point guard last season. Jones, who averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 assists for the Washington Wizards in 2023-24, will get a chance to impact a Western Conference contender and potentially return to a more financially flush free agent market next summer.


July 26

3:59 p.m. ET: Russell Westbrook was in Denver on Friday to sign a two-year, $6.8 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, a league source confirmed to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk.

Westbrook was expected to join Denver after he was traded by the LA Clippers to the LA Clippers, will take meetings with the Clippers, Utah Jazz big man Indiana Pacers, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday. Siakam, 30, plans to sign the deal once the league’s free agency moratorium ends on July 6, sources said.


June 18

8:32 p.m. ET: The Cleveland Cavaliers star Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets could be the top teams in pursuit of the Cavaliers’ Miami Heat president Pat Riley stated Monday that All-Star forward LeBron James said he is undecided on his NBA future after the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the Denver Nuggets.

James, 39, said his immediate focus will be on his family and that his sights then will shift to training camp for USA Basketball ahead of the Paris Olympics this summer.

Asked how he would approach his decision about Year 22, James replied, “I don’t have an answer … to be honest. I haven’t given it much thought.”

James has until June 29 to either opt into the final year of his contract with the Lakers for $51.4 million or become an unrestricted free agent.
