TOP STORY: PSG plan move for Rashford

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to offer Manchester United £75 million to sign Marcus Rashford to replace Kylian Mbappé, according to the Mirror.

Mbappe has been PSG’s talisman, recording 34 goals and seven assists in 35 appearances this term, but the expectation is that he will join Real Madrid as a free agent during the summer.

PSG made a concerted effort to sign Rashford in 2022 and were willing to offer him £400,000-per-week, but the forward decided to stay at Old Trafford. The 26-year-old has endured his struggles this season with underwhelming performances at times in addition to off-field issues, and PSG are convinced that they can take advantage of that to bring him in with an opening offer of £75m.

The Red Devils could be tempted by that figure, although they value Rashford at closer to £100m, especially as there are currently strict Financial Fair Play rules that have restricted the club’s spending. Even so, Rashford’s status as a homegrown player would see any funds brought in be counted as pure profit under Premier League rules, which could allow for greater flexibility as United aims to strengthen their squad.

PSG believe they can succeed in signing Rashford, although they are also monitoring Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

PAPER GOSSIP

– Manchester City have surveyed Barcelona centre-back Pau Cubarsí while Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are also keeping an eye on the 17-year-old, says Sport. However, Premier League clubs can’t sign Cubarsi until he turns 18, and it is believed that he doesn’t want to leave the Blaugrana.

– Bayern Munich, Barcelona and various Premier League clubs want Adrien Rabiot, while Paris Saint-Germain are considering re-signing the midfielder, according to Calciomercato. This comes with the 28-year-old’s contract expiring in the summer, although Rabiot is still giving priority to a renewal at Juventus — which indicates a willingness to stay with the Italian club, even if there is no guarantee.

– Arsenal are eyeing Columbus Crew goalkeeper Patrick Schulte in a move that would have similarities to the one that previously brought fellow Unites States international Matt Turner to north London, reports the Telegraph. The 23-year-old is being considered as the Gunners look to replace Aaron Ramsdale, who is likely to leave at the end of the season.

– Juventus could include right-back Tommaso Barbieri (who is currently on loan at Pisa) in a deal to sign Bologna midfielder Lewis Ferguson, reports Tuttosport, with the 24-year-old valued at €25m and also having interest from AC Milan, Fulham and Nottingham Forest. The Bianconeri are also looking at Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners and Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram, among others.

– Aston Villa, Arsenal and Real Betis are all following Las Palmas goalkeeper Álvaro Valles, according to Relevo, although the latter could be priced out of a move. The 26-year-old’s contract comes to an end in 2025 and the signs are that he will not extend his deal.
