TOP STORY: Man United show interest in signing Alphonso Davies

Manchester United are gathering information for a potential deal to sign Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies, according to Sky Sports Deutschland’s Florian Plettenberg.

Davies’ current contract at Bayern will expire in the summer, and whilst the Bundesliga club are reportedly keen to extend his deal, his future with the club looks uncertain as no talks regarding a contract extension have taken place. This uncertainty over Davies’ future has placed several clubs on alert regarding the potential to secure Davies as a free transfer.

One of those clubs is Manchester United, who have reportedly gathered information regarding a deal for the Canadian international. It is reported that United view Davies as the ideal candidate for left-back. Currently, United can only call upon Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia as recognised left-backs, with the injury problems of the former being a concern.

Whilst it is understood that the Red Devils previously made an informal inquiry to Davies’ camp, United are not the only club who hold an interest in the 23-year-old. Real Madrid have been heavily linked with a move for Davies and have previously been reported to be attentive to the opportunity to secure Davies as a free agent.
